Law Enforcement

The CAC houses 6 detectives who are assigned only cases involving suspected child sexual abuse.  Our detectives respond to reports and investigate allegations of sexual abuse.  The CAC works closely with our in-house detectives to help families participate fully in the investigative process.

Children’s Protective Services (CPS)

CPS investigates harm or threatened harm to a child’s health or welfare that is perpetrated by a parent, legal guardian, or other person responsible for the child’s health or welfare that occurs through non-accidental physical or mental injury, sexual abuse or exploitation, maltreatment, negligent treatment or failure to protect.

Being housed at the CAC allows our CPS workers a better opportunity to investigate any complaints, alongside law enforcement, that involve sexual abuse, exploitation, and/or failure to protect.  Being able to be a part of this multidisciplinary team means there is less time spent coordinating (phone calls, fax, email, etc.) with law enforcement and more time actually investigating complaints.
