April is Child Abuse Prevention Month

National Child Abuse Prevention Month recognizes the importance of communities working together to help families thrive and prevent child maltreatment. During the month of April, and throughout the year, communities are encouraged to increase awareness about child and family well-being and work together to implement effective strategies that support families and prevent child abuse and neglect.

This year the Children’s Bureau’s theme for National Child Abuse Prevention Month is Thriving Children and Families: Prevention With Purpose. We hope you will join our team in some challenges during the month of April to engage our community in some important conversations. Together, we can make sure that our children have a safe community surrounding them that will allow them to thrive.

  • Wear Blue for Prevention!

We challenge your business, organization, schools, etc., to choose a day in the month of April to wear blue for prevention. Be sure to capture it with pictures and share to your social media sites. Don’t forget to tag the Children’s Advocacy Center of Kent County!

  • Take our polls!

Join us on Facebook as we educate our social media followers and our community by engaging them in poll questions! After each poll, we’ll provide a video that will share the facts. This is a simple and easy way to make sure that the right information about child abuse and neglect is getting out there and helping increase knowledge to those that have a desire to keep kids safe.
