Equipping Special Education Classrooms

In the Fall of 2019, the Kids Have Rights program of the Children’s Advocacy Center was awarded a grant by the Kate and Richard Wolters Foundation to develop elementary school lessons for self-contained special education classrooms in Kent County. This generous grant will allow children with emotional impairments, children on the autism spectrum, as well as children with cognitive impairments, to receive age and developmentally appropriate body safety education curriculum in their classrooms. Programmatic elements are also being developed for the school staff, as well as parents and caregivers of these children.

The team at the CAC would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Kate and Richard Wolters Foundation for their gift, as it will positively impact children with special needs and those who care for them.
